ABOUT SPARK JACKSON COUNTY

SPARK Jackson County is a supportive ecosystem and launchpad designed to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit and foster innovation in our community. By cultivating a thriving cycle where entrepreneurs, innovators, and local businesses contribute to and benefit from a collaborative community, SPARK Jackson County will be the ignition for launching new businesses, enhancing the quality of life for all, and positioning Jackson County as the top destination in rural Indiana for launching a business.

MISSION

Our mission is to provide unparalleled support to local entrepreneurs, innovators, and remote workers and serve as an onramp to the broader ecosystem, helping transform ideas into thriving businesses.

We provide this support through three key pillars: programming, coworking, and funding.

 

PROGRAMING

SPARK Jackson County has developed a suite of programs to spark new innovation, fuel existing businesses, connect people and resources, and provide essential business education. These programs are designed to increase the success rates of our local entrepreneurs and innovators:

 

SPARK Tank: An annual pitch competition

SPARK Challenge: An industry innovation competition

SPARK Amigos: A Latino outreach program

SPARK Concierge: A service connecting available resources

SPARK Club: A club of local entrepreneurs

SPARK School: A student startup program

COWORKING

In addition to our programming, SPARK Jackson County is committed to establishing a dynamic coworking space to bring together resources and people. We are transforming an existing business, formerly known as George’s Tire Shop, located adjacent to the Seymour Main Street boundary, into an attractive new gateway to Historic Downtown Seymour. Once revitalized, this property will become a vibrant hub for innovation and collaboration, within walking distance of the many amenities downtown has to offer. Our coworking space will feature modern amenities, flexible work zones, and state-of-the-art facilities, creating an ideal environment for innovation and business development.

OUR FUNDING

Funding is a critical gap in our ecosystem, and SPARK Jackson County aims to bridge this gap through a strategic partnership with the Flywheel Fund. We are launching a $280,000 venture fund, raised from local investors, to reinvest in our startup community. In addition to financial support, the fund provides mentorship and networking opportunities, connecting recipients with experienced professionals and potential collaborators. This initiative will also develop our local investors, transforming them into seasoned angel investors who can sustain long-term investment opportunities for Jackson County.
